At Härnösand in the harbour of Lustholmen
After Örnsköldsvik we headed to Härnösand. The distance between the two cities is about 40 nm. The start was in the the morning at light wind. The back wind with coupe of coffee will stay in the mind and memory for a long time. We had a stopped at Norra Ulvon for lunch; spagetti and garlic.
After Norra Ulvon the wind was getting stronger. We continued towards Härnösand with the wind at speed of 12 m/s. Again it was really nice to realize that the Bavaria 34 can handle this high wind without any problems.
Finally in the evening we ended up to our destination. We stopped at the "Lustholmen" quest harbor for the night. This is a good place to stop before entering the Härnösand down town. The harbor is really safe place. No winds can enter the area.
Örnsköldsvik
Örnsköldsvik is a place where you need to visit if you are sailing at High coast of Sweden. After couple of days in small harbors the downtown is nice experience. The harbor is at downtown of the city. There are lot of good restaurants with good service.
The guest harbor has been selected to be the best in Sweden couple of years ago.
From the guest harbor we rented bicycles. This gave as a good opportunity to go around and take a broader view on the city.
Night sailing to Örnsköldsvik.
We waited in Järnäs for the hard wind calm down. Towards the evening the it was settling at level of 7 m/s so we decided to continue to the next destination - Örnsköldsvik. We expected good sailing weather for the coming night.
The sailing took over 8 hours at light wind. Still the sunset was something that we will remember for a long time. The whole crew was still awake while we entered the harbor at 4 am. This sailing was an experience for all of us.
23rd of June in Järnäs
After Norrbyskär we aimed to sail to Örnsköldsvik. We started the trip in the evening. The weather turned to be quite rough. The wind was between 12 - 14 m/s. Due that we decided to change our route and stopped in Järnäs. Järnäs has a nice small guest harbour for few boats. The place is worth to visit just because of the restaurant.
20th - 22nd of June Midsummer festival at Norrbyskär
At Thursday evening we arrived to Norrbyskär. The harbour was totally empty. There was no other boats. The Midsummer festival had not started yet.
At Friday morning boats and plenty of people started to arrive to the island. The festival with Swedish habits started at noon. The food at the restaurant was excellent. After the nice lunch we listened Swedish folk songs enjoying the nice weather. Norrbyskär is a beautiful place and has a lot of nice attractions for the whole family.
17th - 20th of June we started the summer sailing
In the evening of 17th we started our summer sailing trip. The plan is to spent the coming five weeks at sea. The first stop was at our own yacht clubs's island, Östra trutklimpen. In the following morning we started sailing and headed to Pietarsaari. The wind was good and we got nice sailing through the nice archipelaco. We spent one night at Pietarsaari's yacht club. In the morning we aimed to sail to Norrbyskär in Sweden. The wind was against our direction so we decided to change our destination. Finally we ended up to Holmön island.
7th - 9th of June again in Tankar island
After working week we headed again to Tankar island. The idea was to spent relaxing and peaceful weekend without any agenda.
The weather was nice again. Still the water temperature was ca. 10 'C so there is no passion for swiming. Only our youngest daughter can tolerate this cold water. She took refreshing bath during friday evening.
During the weekend there was salmon fishing competition in the area. The method was trolling. In the evening we were able to follow award ceremony of the competition. The biggest ones were close 10 kgs wild salmons.
20th of May in Tankar:
The first weekend we spent in Tankar island. The weather was quite windy - ca. 12 m/s. This gave us good sailing on the way back home. Even though there was lot of sun shine the temerature was quite low. In our latitude there is quite few sailors out in this early summer.
